14. Pop culture is popping
Ariana Grande released her seventh studio album, eternal sunshine and there is truly nothing like new Ariana music. I’m not the biggest fan of Ariana generally, I don’t follow what she does too closely or listen to her music every day. This is a flaw of mine because her songs are both boppy and personal, her vocals are heaven-sent and this album is no different.
With lots of speculation around what has been happening in her personal life, this album came at the perfect time to either give people the answers they wanted or to show them that no matter what, she is a stellar musician. I’m also enjoying the memes and TikToks around people listening to “the boy is mine” and remembering who it is allegedly about.
The Oscars happened earlier today and Vanessa Hudgens proudly walked in baby-bump first. During Ryan Gosling’s fun performance of “I’m Just Ken”, you could tell how much he was enjoying it. Gosling got the crowd involved, made his co-stars sing along with him, and even passed the mic to Emma Stone who later won the Best Actress award. Stone won for ‘Poor Things’ and so she should, that movie and character was no easy feat. Oppenheimer deservedly won seven awards. Billie Eilish and Finneas’ performance of “What Was I Made For?” rounded out their run with this beautiful song.
My favourite red carpet looks were Amelia Dimoldenberg in Gucci, Jennifer Lawrence in Dior, Lupita Nyong’o in Armani Privé, Carey Mulligan in vintage Balenciaga, and Greta Lee in Loewe. Honorable mentions: Emma Stone (and her broken dress) and Jodi Foster.
Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales is missing in action after an abdominal surgery and everyone is making it their business. I didn’t know how I felt about it at first, I’ve laughed at the memes but now I’m wondering too. What is going on here?
Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan are official as he watched her at The Era’s Tour in Singapore. Barry even took a leaf out of Travis Kelce’s book, sporting a friendship bracelet with Sabrina’s name on it in hearts *swoons in boyfriends supporting girlfriends*. Earlier today they followed each other on the carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, both in stellar outfits.
And finally, if you haven’t seen One Day on Netflix, what are you doing? Watch it right now.
